One big leap into the top 10, as Na Li comes all the way from 13th to 8th after winning in Sydney. The fallers in her place are Dementieva, who falls to 10th, and Shahar Peer, who drops out of the top 10, to 11th.

A rain-soaked event in Hobart ended with a home winner, as Jarmila Groth progressed through the tournament without dropping a set. There weren't any maruqee names in the field for her to face, but she did well nonetheless.

Last year's AO semifinalist, Na Li, continued her good play down under, getting a nice tournament win in Sydney. She was pushed in a couple of her early matches, but really impressed in the final, where she beat Kim Clijsters in straights.

No surprise to see Li here, as her win against Clijsters in Sydney has placed her firmly among the second group of favourites, behind Clijsters, to win the AO title.

The 20-year-old Canadian won on clay in Florida, with her best win coming over Cadantu in the final.

Last year, Dushevina qualified for the Sydney MD, then won two matches before falling to Serena Williams. This year, she couldn't get through the qualies, losing to Sorana Cirstea (89)
