A few top ten changes; the retired Elena Dementieva fell six places, to 15th, Henin and Zvonareva flipped 4th and 5th, Li and Sharapova swapped 7th and 8th, and Schiavone and Peer move up, with the Israeli replacing Dementieva in the top 10.

Petra Kvitova had one of the most surprising results of the week in Paris, as she struggled through to the final, needing third set tiebreaks against Zahlavova Strycova and Wickmayer, but then handily beat the world #1 in the final, a huge result for her that indicates she may be preparing for a big rise.

In the smaller event of the week, Pattaya, Daniela Hantuchova won her first title in almost four years, with the highlight of her week being a win against world #5 Vera Zvonareva.

Dokic had a decent result in Paris that gave her a small rise, on a week when not many players improved much. She beat Lucie Safarova (42) and Nadia Petrova (24), before getting badly beaten by Clijsters.

Riser of the Week (other):
Kristina Mladenovic FRA (161), Up 56
The 17-year-old Mladenovic, a junior champion at Roland Garros and runnerup at Wimbledon, has really pressed on with her senior-level career. She entered the rankings just last week, and already makes a big move up, as she won a second consecutive challenger, beating Arantxa Rus (104) in the final to extend her winning streak to 10 matches.

Safarova lost first round to the riser of the week, Dokic, which did some major damage to her ranking, as she dropped her final from Paris last season, which included wins over Schiavone (9), Peer (10) and Pennetta (11).
