A huge change at #2, as Dubai winner Caroline Wozniacki displaces Venus Williams at that spot. Lourdes Dominguez-Lino won a weak event in Bogota, as she did not play against a single top 100 opponent en route to the title. She was helped by the seeds getting crushed, with just two getting out of the second round.

Caroline Wozniacki's ascent to the #2 spot in the world came after an excellent win in Dubai that saw her not drop a set, and take three top 20 wins in the last three matches.

Memphis saw a win for Magdalena Rybarikova, though she had a fairly easy path there, with no top 50 opponents. she was pushed to a third set tiebreaker by Vania King in the opening round, and needed two more three set matches, though she benifited from a retirement in the final.
