A wild week at the bottom of the top 10, with Sam Stosur going up 2 places to 7th, Shuai Peng surging 7 places to 9th and Petra Kvitova rising three spots to get to the edge of the top 10. Dropping out are Elena Dementieva, who falls to 12th, and Flavia Pennetta, now 13th.

Brianti was a surprising winner from outside the top 100 in Fes, though given the weakness of the field its not a huge surprise. Her one top 50 match ended up in a walkover, as Safina didn't play, though she was effective in beating Halep in the final.

Georges got a huge win for her career at home in Stuttgart, notching up no fewer than three top ten wins; while she was fortunate that Azarenka retired while ahead in the escond round, she looked very solid in beating Stosur and Wozniacki on the weekend.
