Vinci got somewhat fortunate in winning Barcelona, as she didn't face a single top 50 player, and no seed, after most of the tournament's higher ranked players went out in the first round.

Medina Garrigues had a similar run in Estoril, though she did get one well seeded player in Zakopalova. She didn't drop a set in taking the title, with some solid wins over players in the 50-70 range.
