June 6th Rankings - Women

Na Li made history, becoming the first Asian player to win a Grand Slam title, giving her a solid move up in the rankings, up two places to 6th. Three other risers entered the top 10, with quarterfinalists Andrea Petkovic and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, moving up to 8th and 10th, respectively, and Agnieszka Radwanska's fourth round seeing her rise to 9th. Dropping out of the top 10 were the retired Elena Dementieva, who fell below the match threshold, the defending champion Francesca Schiavone, despite making the final for the second straight year, and Sam Stosur, last year's finalist.

Riser of the Week (top 100):
Yung-Jan Chan TPE (86), Up 37
Another Asian who had a breakthrough on the Paris clay, Chan had lost easily in the first round last year to Jarmila Gajdosova (27), but this year won three matches in the qualifiers, before making the third rounds, racking up wins over Klara Zakopalova (36) and Jill Craybas (148), before falling to Maria Sharapova (4).

Riser of the Week (other):
Silvia Soler-Espinosa ESP (135), Up 25
Soler didn't get far in the French Open, losing in the second round to eventual champion Li Na, but did manage four match wins, qualifying for the main draw with wins over Vitalia Diatcehnko (132) and Kai-Chen Chang (154). She then won a main draw match over Elena Vesnina (41), a major improvement from her second round qualy loss from the year previous.

Dropper of the Week (top 100):
Nadia Petrova RUS (43), Down 15
Petrova was a quarterfinalist at last year's French Open, beating Agnes Szavay (32) and Venus Williams (n/a), along the way. This year, she couldn't get out of the first round, losing in three sets to Anastasia Rodionova (346).

Dropper of the Week (other):
Yaroslava Shvedova RUS (117), Down 65
Shvedova had seemed like a breakthrough player after last year's French, where she was a surprise quarterfinalist, having beaten Agnieszka Radwanska (9), Alisa Kleybanova (26) and Jarmila Gajdosova (27) along the way. However, she has struggled to follow on this result since, and took a big drop after losing in the first round to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (10) this year.
